Christ Is Risen!!!
"Remembering, therefore, this saving commandment and all that has been done for our sake: the Cross, the tomb, the Resurrection on the third day, the Ascension into heaven, the enthronement at the right hand, and the second and glorious coming." (from the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom)
St. Stephen Parish in Lackawanna celebrated liturgically and prayerfully all the events mentioned above during the Holy Week and Pascha of our Lord in the year 2022.
On Holy Saturday, April 23, two people, who have become familiar faces in our community, were formally accepted into the Orthodox Church. Both were accepted into the Church through the sacraments of Baptism (Steven) and Chrismation (both Steven and Ayame). Steven Bolo, a long-time resident of Western New York, has been attending our parish for over a year, while Ayame Vest and her husband Nick were formerly residents of California. We congratulate both Steven and Ayame, and their Kumovi Nancy Mondich and John Mirolovich. God grant you many years!
Popadija Sara and her dedicated floral assistants prepared the lovely flower donation of Tom and Tatjana Mazaris. You can’t help but notice the beautiful flower garlands that decorate our iconastas. Thank you to the Mazaris family, and to Kelsey Lignos, Taylor Delmont, Kristina Vranjes, Suzana Stojanovic, Mirjana Dorozan and Popadija Sara for their efforts. Thank you, ladies!
This year, right after the Liturgy, our dear children enjoyed special treat: a chocolate Easter bunny, donated by Antoinette's Sweets. Thank you to Alexandra, John and Katya!
It was another glorious celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
